Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator is responsible for a broad range of management, administrative, fiscal, research and project management, and educational support responsibilities; assists CDME in working with funding agencies and developing financial resources and programs; assists in developing and implementing research reports, articles, and agendas in conjunction with faculty and staff; applies industry knowledge to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and sponsors related to research programs; manages projects; creates reports; manages expenditures; maintains and updates program websites ; delivers high level internal and external communications; serves as liaison between sponsors and university, college, center, and external entities; coordinates meetings; manages program functions; maintains assigned program budgets.

Additional Information: This position may require occasional travel; requires access to export-controlled data and work in an export-controlled facility. Eligibility for this position is restricted to “U.S. persons” as defined in U.S. export control regulations. “U.S. persons” include: (1) U.S. citizens or nationals; (2) permanent residents; (3) asylees or refugees; or (4) individuals otherwise described as “protected individuals” pursuant to Title 8 U.S. Code Section 1324b(a)(3)(b).

Experience

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Lead Engineer

As part of the Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME), this position initiates and leads manufacturing and industry lead research on projects involving mechanical and design engineering; trains students and staff engineers on manufacturing methods, software, and tools where applicable; develops reports, research articles, and presentations for publication and professional meetings and conferences; manages operation and progress of industry lead or research projects; develops task lists, timelines and budgets for projects; supports proposal development; authors and co-authors research publications; supports professional development and student program activities of CDME in area of expertise; responsible for bringing in sufficient funding to support position and any student employee direct reports; performs other projects as assigned.


This position will require access to export controlled data and work in an export controlled facility. Eligibility for this position is restricted to “U.S. persons” as defined in U.S. export control regulations. “U.S. persons” include: (1) U.S. citizens or nationals; (2) permanent residents; (3) asylees or refugees; or (4) individuals
otherwise described as “protected individuals” pursuant to Title 8 U.S. Code Section 1324b(a)(3)(b).

Experience

Required
  • Master’s Level Degree:
  • Major: mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • 4-5 years experience in a professional research environment with experience proposal writing and customer engagement; experience in a R & D setting (i.e., planning and conducting R & D projects/programs in terms of technical and managerial functions)
Desired
  • Doctoral Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; Doctoral degree; demonstrated or similar experience through consulting with industry.

Lead Engineer

This position functions as a lead engineer for the Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME) and is responsible for the execution of industry-led projects relating to industrial cybersecurity, and commercialization of new technology through integrated design and manufacturing approaches; works closely with industry partners to ensure projects are completed in accordance with project milestones, deliverable requirements and within the cost and schedule agreed upon during project scoping; works with OSU faculty, CDME staff and students to coordinate multi-disciplinary tasks; utilizes expertise and leadership in determining technical solutions for complex problems drawing upon personal experience, Ohio State University faculty, outside sources/suppliers, and staff within CDME; ensures disciplined project management processes are followed; travels to customer facilities for project meetings and technology implementation programs; supports professional development and student program activities of CDME in area of expertise; responsible for bringing in sufficient funding to support position and any direct reports; performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Experience

Required
  • Master's Degree or equivalent

  • Major: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electronics Engineering

  • 4-5 years experience in a professional research environment including proposal writing and customer engagement; experience in a R&D setting (i.e., planning and conducting R&D projects/programs in terms of technical and managerial functions)

Desired
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers, FPGA(s), Printed Circuit Board (PCB), Embedded Programming (microcontrollers), software experience in a supervisory capacity over direct reports or processes is highly desired.

Principal Engineer

The Principal Engineer develops and leads machine learning / artificial intelligence research and development efforts for the Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME); coordinates and conducts various sponsored research and industry projects; collaborates with research and industry partners to ensure projects are completed in accordance with project milestones, deliverable requirements and within the cost and schedule agreed upon during project scoping; works with OSU faculty and other CDME staff to coordinate multidisciplinary fundamental and applied research; utilizes expertise and leadership in determining technical solutions for complex problems; serves as a liaison with sponsoring agencies and other research and educational institutes; prepares technical reports for submission to sponsoring agencies; participates in preparation of research and industry proposals; writes journal and conference articles; presents research progress to sponsors and presents research results at conferences and symposia; establishes priorities and  supervises student employees (e.g. provides developmental opportunities, coaches to foster development, evaluates performance); supports professional development and student program activities of CDME in area of expertise; responsible for bringing in sufficient funding to support position and any direct reports; performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • Experience and/or training in software development, sensor interfaces, electrical circuit design and wiring, computer networking, and technical writing
  • Extensive experience in a professional multidisciplinary research environment with experience proposal writing and customer engagement
  • Considerable experience in a R & D setting (i.e., planning and conducting R & D projects/programs in terms of technical and managerial functions)
Desired
  • Experience with industrial automation, six-axis robots, C++, Python, ROS, Unity, C#, OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Linux CLI, Git, network administration, Solidworks, AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity over direct reports or processes is highly desired

Post Doctoral Scholar

Conducts research and development efforts as a Post Doctoral Scholar at the Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence focused in the area of artificial intelligence manufacturing; documents information resulting from these studies and reports to sponsors; prepares research results and reports, conference and journal papers, and technical presentations; assists in mentoring student employees; attends research group and unit meetings;  

Experience

Required

Ph.D. in Integrated Systems Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related Engineering field.

Desired

Familiarity with artificial intelligence manufacturing principles; excellent writing and communication skills.
